Find Churches

The Friends of Friendless Churches own over 40 former churches and chapels, half in England, half in Wales.

Many of our churches are medieval, and all of them are listed. Most are listed Grade II* or Grade I, which means they are of very special, or exceptional interest, and sometimes considered to be internationally important.

The majority of our churches are open to visitors during the day without the need to contact a keyholder but the office can tell you those where you will need to give notice of a visit or see the list under Visiting Friends Churches.

We are very grateful to the many photographers who have have supplied the photographs used here. Their names are given on the captions (when you move your mouse over the image).
