Eastwell, St Mary

Near Ashford, Kent

OS: TR 009 474

Eastwell St Mary was taken on by the Friends in 1980. It is a scheduled ancient monument (Kent, no: 381).

It is a ruin except for the fifteenth century tower and the nineteenth century SW Chapel. There is a memorial to Richard Plantagenet in the churchyard.

The Friends have recently replaced the ugly brick infill designed to keep out vandals with a durable architect-designed iron screen (see inset, left).

Please note there is no internal access to the church.

If you would like to visit the church and need details of keyholders, directions etc, please telephone our office on: 020 7236 3934.
